Madness!

I don’t know about you, but it is end of the year madness in my classroom…dibels, data notebooks, running records, memory books, and report cards, OH MY!

This summer I’m moving classrooms and transitioning into co-teaching.  I’m really excited about it, I think it will be a fun experience and be great for the kiddos.  We plan to ability group math and language, which will be WONDERFUL!  Currently, I have a student who is reading at a level F and a student who is reading at a level Z!

We all spend the entire school year trying to make sure all of our kiddos are comfortable in the classroom and enjoy coming to school...right?  Well, that sure can come back to bite you in the caboose.  This week as we were lining up for recess, one of my little angels said…

“Mrs. R, do you know what a cup is?”

Me being the totally naive 1st grade teacher I am said…
“Yes, it’s something you drink out of.”

My angel with a mischievous grin:  “Nope…”

Upon the realization that he was NOT asking what a glass was, I quickly said it wasn’t appropriate to discuss that at school.  But did that stop him? Noooooo!

My angel continued to TEASE ME that I didn’t know what he was talking about.  In that very moment I thought to myself, “these kids have GOT to go to 2nd grade!”

This came after last week I had an angel ask if he could take his PANTS OFF in class.  He was very upset when I OBVIOUSLY said that he could not.  All of this said, I have come to the conclusion that I spent too much time trying to make my kiddos comfortable and open to discuss things with me in the classroom.  I wasn’t kidding about it being madness in my room!  :0)
Which is why we have been having a lot of these lately...

BRAIN BREAKS!!!

I’m very blessed to teach at a school where there is a lot of parent support.  I have several parent volunteers who have helped me a lot this year and I have been wracking my brain trying to think of a thank you gift.  It came to me today as I was walking the aisles of SAMS Club…I spotted these little gems.

I do my best thinking is SAMS Club!  I scoured Pinterest for some cute gift tags and voila...thank you gifts completed!  :0)

The end of the year is near!!

My kiddos and I had the opportunity to learn more about the Indianapolis 500 from one of the 500 Princesses.  They were so engaged and really enjoyed themselves.  Their favorite part, of course, was watching the movie trailer for Turbo.
